EXTON, Pa. -- The Hydrocarbon Specialty Chemical (HSC) division of Cray Valley has obtained approval from parent company Total to construct a new manufacturing facility in Beaumont, Texas to produce hydrogenated tackifying resins. These resins will be based on a new, proprietary base resin. The initial phase of the project will have 20 kilotons capacity and is expected to be online in the fourth quarter of 2012. A second 20-kiloton capacity expansion will follow. "This significant investment demonstrates Totals commitment to grow its presence in hydrocarbon specialty chemicals," said Charles-Henri Robert, HSC president. "This, along with the recent investment to increase Poly bd resin capacity 40 percent at our Channelview, Texas plant, establishes a firm platform for HSCs future growth." Hydrogenated tackifying resins find use in the manufacture of adhesives for hygiene applications and as a modifier in Plastics applications. The low color and low odor nature of these resins makes them ideal for the most demanding adhesive formulations. Cray Valley Hydrocarbon Specialty Chemical part of Total Group provides hydrocarbon resins, Norsolene and Wingtack tackifying resins, along with Poly bd, Ricon, Krasol, SMA resins and metallic coagents.
