With Henkel’s TapOut program, packagers convert from tape to adhesive with no capital investment
Henkel is offering a new fully integrated, turn-key program to convert from packaging tape to adhesive: the TapOut Package Sealing Solution.
The TapOut Package Sealing Solution is a bundled system that includes low-temperature application adhesive, adhesive dispensing equipment, and a packaging line that seals top and bottom. According to Andy Gold, Market Development Manager, Industrial Adhesives, Henkel North America, the packaging market has asked for a simple and straightforward way to transition from tapers to adhesive. He adds, with TapOut, no capital investment is required, and conversion is quick and easy. “Wheel in/wheel out is typically under one hour,” he said.
Converting to TapOut holds significant benefits for packagers. Switching to adhesive eliminates downtime caused by tape. Packagers can say goodbye to production stoppages caused by tape roll changes, improper tape cutting, cases sticking together, wrap-arounds, misalignments, tape head maintenance, and tape tension issues. As evidence, Gold points to a top consumer goods manufacturer which experienced a 90% reduction in downtime after switching to TapOut because operators spend significantly less time tending to the machine.
In addition, the adhesive itself contributes to low-maintenance operation. “Our exclusive low-temperature adhesive technology minimizes char build-up, nozzle clogs, and nozzle replacement,” said Gold, “so packagers can achieve maximum line uptime.”
Packagers using adhesive also save up to 20% on corrugated cost by reducing the square footage of the case. Another big plus, according to Gold, is that adhesive expands package design options for better package aesthetics and shelf appeal. “And,” he continued, “adhesive improves overall package security and sustainability compared to tape.”
Conversion is easy utilizing the same footprint as the existing taper. Packagers simply roll away the taper and roll in the TapOut Package Sealing Solution.
