tesa 51910 EasySplice FilmLine PLUS takes package printing into the future

The flying splice is a critical moment every time when working with films. The trend toward new film qualities raises the requirements on reliable splicing even further. For cost reasons and in order to reduce packaging waste, films are becoming increasingly thinner, and consequently are more sensitive to tensioning of the film web during production. At the same time, the packaging industry uses extremely smooth films, some of them in the new qualities, that are capable of gliding and are designed for smooth processing at the highest of speeds on “form, fill and seal” systems. We have developed a new splicing tape specifically for these new generations of critical and sensitive film qualities that allows automatic roll changes. It is called tesa 51910 EasySplice FilmLine PLUS.

tesa 51910 EasySplice FilmLine PLUS has been thoroughly tested on highly critical surfaces and at web speeds of over 600m/min ? with totally convincing results. Roll changes can be performed with even the thinnest and supplest films, such as the outer layer of diapers, without reducing web speed. Unexpectedly positive results were also achieved when laminating printed films, in particular, with aluminum or other barrier films. It has been possible to increase the rate of successful flying splices without reducing the speed significantly compared with conventional splicing techniques. On account of the consistent web speed, the web tension remains constant, producing consistent laminating results, and also reduces the amount of waste in downstream processes.

Altogether, these advantages also mean that tesa 51910 EasySplice FilmLine is highly cost-efficient to use. In talks with managers responsible for improving efficiency in printing shops, it has been possible to confirm the financial benefits in precise figures. Particularly printing shops that have recently invested in a modern printing machine are also looking to maximize their output at increased average printing speeds.

Thanks to the particularly high tack of the split backing strip on all film materials, tesa 51910 EasySplice FilmLine PLUS provides the necessary adhesion for splicing on the film bales ? including on soft and loosely wound rolls. The bottom line is that this means greatly enhanced reliability, quality and cost efficiency in the printing and laminating process.
