The Association of European Adhesives and Sealants Manufacturers will organise a workshop about Migration Modelling for Food Contact Packaging Adhesives on Tuesday 22nd February 2011 at the CEFIC Headquarters, in Brussels.
The workshop is especially for its own members but attendees from other sectors are welcome providing space is available. The workshop is one of several activities implemented as part of the MIGRESIVES project. Following several events about the MIGRESIVES project, this workshop will focus upon a troubleshooting exercise to explain the use and the benefits of the MIGRESIVES findings and the specially developed software through real life examples.

The MIGRESIVES research programme examined the potential for using computer modelling to calculate the migration of substances used in adhesive formulations for food labels and packaging materials. It was designed to meet the requirements of European Legislation and standardisation for food contact materials. The European Commission FP 6th Framework Programme Horizontal research activities involving SMEs supported the project. . After more than three years research, the final results of this project were presented and discussed during a Conference held in Ljubljana (Slovenia) last year with participants from Europe, USA, Japan and Middle East.
Following the Conference and training seminars delivered by the National Adhesive Associations, FEICA is continuing to support the implementation and the development of the MIGRESIVES project, organising this special workshop for its members.
During the opening session, Dr. Hermann Onusseit, Technical Director at Henkel KGaA, will make a presentation about "Food contact legislation - compliance through calculation". Afterwards there will be a hands-on exercise using real life examples, provided by members of the FEICA Paper and Packaging Working Group. This part of the workshop will be given by Mr. Alain Reynier from ITECH who will be answering the attendees questions step by step during the course of the training. The aim of the workshop is to give the attendees an overview on the concept of Multilayer Modeling and the Software tool enabling the delegates to conduct similar exercises once they have returned home.
