This year, the German company Lohmann will be appearing at the nineteenth World Hydrogen Energy Conference (WHEC) at stand 600 in the German Pavilion. Between 3 and 7 June, hydrogen and fuel cell technology experts will meet at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto, Canada, to present the latest developments in the field. With a long history stretching back over 160 years, Lohmann is considered to be one of the pioneers when it comes to adhesive tape technologies and currently offers the worlds most modern adhesive solutions for the manufacturing industry. The Lohmann Tape Group is represented around the globe by 1,600 employees at 28 international sites as well as exclusive sales partners in over 50 countries. The creative ability of Lohmann "Bonding Engineers" manifests itself in many ways. From the global specification work through individual product development to innovative adhesive designs. On-site mechanical integration of the adhesive solution supports and optimizes the customers production process.
For many years, the company has also been a recognised partner of the renewable energies sector. Particularly in this area, adhesive solutions have an increasingly important part to play. The more reliably and efficiently components are connected, the more long-lasting and cost-effective the technical solution will be. Whether this is for producing energy from solar systems, wind turbines and fuel cells or for storing energy using the latest battery technologies is immaterial.
As a potential energy transformer of the future, batteries and fuel cells offer high development potential for the various technology approaches. Both batteries and fuel cells can be used wherever energy needs to be supplied. For example, for renewable energies, for electronic appliances or in automobiles. For this reason, Lohmann began looking into this key technology at an early stage and offers appropriate solutions for a wide variety of applications. In cooperation with the companys sites worldwide and the corresponding departments such as Product Development, customised solutions for this new field of technology are being designed. This includes, among other things, high-precision die-cut parts for mounting and sealing fuel cell stacks, which provide the best possible mounting process and simultaneously meet the highest sealing requirements. Other self-adhesive die-cut parts are used to bond modern li-ion batteries to make stacks. They are always used as a thermally and electrically insulating adhesive tape solution when li-ion batteries and cooling elements are joined to make stacks.
Represented at the WHEC 2012 by the Building & Renewable Energies market segment, the adhesive experts will present a new and patent-pending product from the DuploTEC range. The so-called "Fuel Cell Tape" is an in-house development specifically for the fuel cell types "Proton Exchange Membrane" (PEM) and "Direct Methanol Fuel Cell" (DMFC). Used as a self-adhesive precision die-cut part, DuploTEC FCT (Fuel Cell Tape) takes on a sealing function, whereby the impermeability of hydrogen is the main advantage in the application. The Lohmann adhesive engineers will be available to visitors at the WHEC for advice on all adhesive-related questions.
As globally operating bonding engineers, Lohmann has demonstrated for many years and in numerous sectors that it only delivers the highest quality. Its name is synonymous with decades of expertise in adhesive bonds, innovative developments, the most up-to-date production processes and uncompromising customer focus. The Lohmann group employs over 1600 staff across the world, all of whom work in line with well-defined values. Values that make the company a promising and reliable partner.
