WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) is launching a new and improved tool to help industry meet mandatory emissions reporting obligations to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). CPIs Regulatory Compliance Assistance Program (RCAP) is a tool to help facilities that manufacture, process or otherwise use diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) and polymeric MDI (PMDI) calculate their Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting.
This program was created as general guidance to help facilities understand and estimate MDI or PMDI emissions for TRI reporting under the "diisocyanates" category. Companies exceeding EPAs threshold limits are required by EPA to submit Form A or Form R by July 1st of each year to federal regulators and a corresponding state agency based on the proceeding calendar year activities. CPIs RCAP online tool provides a fast and convenient method to help companies estimate MDI and PMDI emissions from typical process applications and activities.
"Among the services CPI provides to the polyurethanes community are tools like the RCAP that help our industry meet regulatory requirements and fulfill commitments to product stewardship. RCAP is not just an emissions calculator, but also an extensive guidance document with examples and an email help line for businesses that offers expert user support. We are pleased to offer this improved tool to companies using MDI and invite them to take advantage of the wealth of resources we offer on our Website, said CPI Senior Director Lee Salamone.
The new RCAP tool is more user-friendly than its predecessor and provides clear instructions and guidance information. The interactive tool is in a convenient spreadsheet format and is available free of charge on CPIs Website. CPI offers program users support to help answer questions regarding MDI, PMDI or TRI reporting. CPI will also launch an RCAP tool for toluene diisocyanate (TDI) emissions in the near future.
The American Chemistry Councils (ACCs) mission is to deliver business value through exceptional advocacy using best-in-class member performance, political engagement, communications and scientific research. The company is committed to sustainable development by fostering progress in our economy, environment and society.
