Arkema and CECA to Present Bitumen Additives at 2012 E&E Congress in Istanbul

Arkema and its subsidiary CECA are taking part in the 5th Eurasphalt & Eurobitume Congress in Istanbul from 13th to 15th June 2012. Arkema will present its functional polyolefin range used as modifiers in bitumen binders, while CECA, European leader in specialty bitumen additives, will exhibit its complete additives portfolio for the road industry. This event is organized every 4 years by the European Asphalt Producers Association (Eurobitume) and the European Asphalt Pavement Association (EAPA).

Visitors to the Arkema-CECA booth (n°104/105) will be able to discover Arkemas range of functional polyolefins (Evatane, Lotryl, Lotader) which can be added as modifiers to bitumen binders to improve their mechanical properties (softening temperature, penetrability, resilience elastic recovery). Renowned for its technical support and expertise in road construction technologies, CECA will present its whole range of specialty surfactants used as adhesion promoters, emulsifiers, and process aids This range, the most effective on the market, creates the bitumen-aggregate bond and protects it over time in all circumstances, whether in a cold or a hot process, to build new roads or repair existing ones.

One of the main focuses this year is sustainable development, and especially warm mix techniques. Juan Gonzalez from the CECA / Arkema Research & Development Center will make a presentation on 14th on "Environmental aspects of warm mix asphalts produced with chemical additives". This is a joint paper prepared with CECAs Danish partner Pankas, which will include measurements of energy and emission reductions, and lifecycle assessment.

Especially for this congress, CECA will provide asphalt producers with a free estimate of the potential reduction in the energy bill of their mixing plant when using the CECABASE RT warm mix asphalt additive.
