Hexion to Expand its Curitiba Facility to Include Production of Wax Emulsion

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Hexion Inc.’s (“Hexion” or the “Company”) previously announced formaldehyde and resin expansion in the city of Curitiba in Parana, Brazil, remains on pace to open in the third quarter of 2015. The Company’s existing forest products resin manufacturing facility in Curitiba is also expanding its facility to include the production of wax emulsions, which provides moisture resistance for panel boards and other applications. Hexion is a leading global supplier of resins, wax emulsions and additives for the production of wood composite boards.

Forest Products Division. “We operate five sites in the region and are excited to be a part of a growing economy there.”

The new wax emulsion facility will have the capacity to produce 25,000 metric tons/year. The wax emulsion product line will be used in the manufacturing of particleboard and medium density fiberboard. These products are used in a wide range of applications in the construction, remodeling and furniture industries. Wax emulsions are waterborne products that are produced using Hexion’s proprietary advanced manufacturing system that works to create as little waste as possible.

In addition, the Company is a leading global producer of resins for wood composites, a key raw material used to manufacture advanced engineered wood solutions.
