Mactac® has launched cryogenic label-stocks, LTC01454, LTC01469, LTC01475 and LTC01483, for harsh environment applications. The labels must withstand exposure to liquid nitrogen or ultra-low temperature freezers (-320° F), thaw cycles, chemicals and solvents.
The company's advanced high-tack acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive and other characteristics meet the needs of ultra-low temperature applications.
Labels Ideal for Medical Research and Clinical Labs
The labels are intended for use in medical research, clinical laboratories, fertility clinics and biobanks. The new cryogenic label-stocks are used for labeling laboratories identification substrates, such as test tubes, ampules, vials and slides.
Key features of the label-stocks include:
Superior adhesion to small radius containers for firm attachment to test tubes and ampules
Reliable identification of plastic and glass vessels that endure long-term storage in liquid nitrogen
Resistance to edge-lifting – even when repeatedly subjected to changes between low temperatures and room temperatures, such as removal from liquid nitrogen immersion
Exclusive about Mactac® Cryogenic Labels
The cryogenic labels are offered as thermal transfer, direct thermal and laser printable products. LTC01454, LTC01469 and LTC01475 labels are primarily for roll-to-roll applications.
LTC01454, a 2.0-mil clear gloss polyester film and LTC01469, a 2.0-mil white semi-gloss polyester film offer printability with flexography and thermal transfer print methods. Both the labels feature a 50# white glassine paper liner with polyethylene laminated on one side and coated with a release system designed for label dispensing.
LTC01475 is a 3.9-mil white matte polypropylene film with direct thermal coat (direct thermal printable). It features a 45# blue glassine paper liner coated with a release system designed for label dispensing.
LTC01483 is 2.0-mil white matte polyester film for printability via laser print methods. It features a 60# ivory Kraft paper liner with polyethylene laminated on one side and coated with a release system designed for lay-flat applications.
