The method includes the steps that a certain quantity of urea and formaldehyde react for 30-60 minutes with the pH value being 7-8 at the temperature of 85-90 DEG C, the pH value is adjusted to 3-4, a second batch of urea is added, after the mixture is stirred to be uniform, isobutyl aldehyde is added step by step, and a reaction is conducted for 40-60 minutes at the temperature of 60-80 DEG C; the temperature is lowered to 60-80 DEG C, then a third batch of urea and a fourth batch of urea are added in a batched mode, the pH value is adjusted to 7-8, the mixture is cooled to 40 DEG C and below, material discharging is conducted, and the isobutyl aldehyde modified urea-formaldehyde resin adhesive is obtained. The preparation method is simple, and the prepared urea resin has the advantages of being low in content of free formaldehyde, good in storage stability, high in adhesion strength, good in water resistance and the like.
